| Description: | The goal in this extensive remodel was to convert a typical ranch home into a unique energy efficient design while reusing most of the building’s envelope: exterior walls, roof and foundation. The building massing was altered on the south by replacing a hip roof with a flat roof and parapet, increasing the interior volume to the kitchen and providing additional views. The floor plan was altered to connect the main living area to the rear deck and yard, creating an open yet private space. Ultimately, the roof addition is united by weaving a functional trellis into the existing fascia of the structure. |
