| Description: | As the first of three homes to be developed, 3010 Washington represents the basis of the Washington Street Trio project, in the development of an architectural ideal. The framework for this process was to blend modern style, timeless design and contemporary materials and finishes into a home that is welcoming and grounded in its interaction with the inhabitants and neighborhood. Beneath the distinct esthetic, modern materials and earth toned pallet, is a practice of high performance energy efficient construction based on both passive solar design and Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal energy systems. These applications put this home design at the top of the architectural food chain within the neighborhood and local community. This project aims to encourage further, a new era of sustainable design, development and building practices. |
| Methods: | -Passive Solar Design with appropriate solar heat gain advantage for glazing and sufficient thermal mass in the slab on grade foundation. -SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System) walls and blown in cellulose roof cavity, for a super insulated shell. -Solar Thermal panels for domestic hot water heating and space heating for radiant floor. -Interior finishes all low or no VOC content. -Venetian plaster interior wall finish. -Custom Fir Wall paneling -Glass guard railing for stairs -Mahogany for stairway and concrete inlay on main floor. -Energy Star rating-5 star, Hers index 48. |
