BOULDER

Washington

NEW CONSTRUCTION

As the last of the Washington Street Trio homes, this project is a culmination of the sculptural vision and fine craftsmanship explored in 3010 and 3004.  It is noteworthy for its distinct design and being the most sustainable and energy efficient home in the Ideal Market neighborhood. Situated on a corner lot, the design focused on two main aspects; creating a central load bearing concrete form in which the stairway is located and to define the grand interior spaces by using the exterior forms as definition.

The design combines the experience of indoor and outdoor space by connecting interior gathering spaces to outdoor courtyards and patios.  This idea expresses itself at the glass entrance awning, outdoor courtyards defined by limestone clad privacy walls, and on the frosted glass screened master bedroom balcony. The glass enclosed cantilevered stairway provides passage to a fantastic view of the local mountains. Open kitchen/dining space with oversized farm style Island and large exterior glass openings provide an excellent venue for entertaining.  The craftsmanship of the concrete floors with walnut inlays and the reclaimed brick wall finish in the kitchen define this house as exemplary.

Size: 4750 sq. ft.

Location: Boulder, CO.

Status: Completed December 2008.
