An inspiring site with amazing views of the Continental Divide and Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.  Using the original foundation and most of the exterior walls, we re-expressed this building to capture views to the south and west and reflect the drama  of those views back indoors.  A garage and studio volume was added and connected by breezeway.  During construction, the interior of this building revealed itself as being perhaps our best work, or at least close to it.  The Owners suite is a hemlock clad cube contained inside a larger volume; the effect is noteworthy. The hearth massing wraps the edge of the generous two story volume, anchoring the two levels together.
